Illustrator. $b Sherrill Martin was raised in Perry County, Kentucky. While a student at Vicco High School, Martin created illustrations for a Carrs Fork Coal Company newsletter which emphasized mine safety. Martin's illustrations served to remind the miners that safety was indeed their responsibility and was, in fact, their patriotic duty to the World War II war effort.
